The Art of Photo-Sharing

by Global Advertising Strategies on May 22, 2012

Photo-sharing is all the rage these days. Brands are tapping into the craze by posting original content and engaging  with the consumer, as well as by using the ‘photo-filter’ effect in the ads and store displays. About a year ago, the idea of branded photo filters surfaced on some tech blogs as the ‘next big thing.’ Nike did one for Hipstamatic in an effort to further their brand message through user-generated content.

Adding a photo filter to an established brand is an easier task than using a branded photo filter to introduce an idea or a vision to a larger audience. Yet both are doable, and, arguably, are the future. When we started Global Art Group last year, we quickly realized that technology+art had a very one-sided relationship. Technology was, at best, an add-on vehicle for the art world heavyweights — apps for sales, apps for fairs, apps for museums. Unless an artist had immediate access to those three channels, the app world was hardly a friend. We set out to change that. One artist at a time.

Today, we present to you the Viewpoints app. A photo-sharing and editing tool that adds a contemporary art flair to your pics. We took a vision and a signature style of a contemporary artist (David Datuna), and turned it into filter options. Viewpoints makes you the artist, and makes your pictures the canvas. Download it here, and create anywhere!
