That's one of the questions, I actually was asked, in a private e-mail once, back when I first started writing about this set of islands. At that time, I thought the question was a rather peculiar one, both gramtically, and just as a general question as a whole. Now, years after, I see that it's a perfectly viable question.
What is this?
Is it a geographically located set of islands, or does it slide over into the more philosophical state?. A state of the mind. Another person told me, after she'd visited here in the islands, that she couldn't really fathom, where she had been and the things which she had seen.
I'm rephrasing from memory, but she said something like: "I was in your beautiful country, and I took many pictures, but now that I am back home, and I look at these pictures, I am filled with sadness. The pictures can never capture the essence of that beautiful country. Treasure it, because there's nowhere else on earth that is as beautiful as the Faroe Islands".
I haven't myself traveled a whole lot around the world, but I can say with certainty, that this country has a really beautiful nature. A nature which varies in color, shape and form. From high rocky cliffs to tranquil peaceful terrains.
The people which here live, are citizens of the world, as well as their own people. At first, coming in as a foreigner, they may seem like they live in a world of their own, but once you dig a little deeper, and get into their lives, into their homes, you will find heartwarming gems.
I will end this, with the words, that someone once wrote me in an e-mail, after a visit to the islands: "The islands greeted me as a stranger, but I left as a friend".
You will see my writing here again soon. Stay safe!
