Who can forget the Tribalistas? They were formed in late 2002, by Marisa Monte, Arnaldo Antunes, and Carlinhos Brown, and their success was instant. The Tribalistas was a one-time collaboration between these three Brazilian musicians, all of which possess a formidable talent and will be featured in this blog in the nearish future. Among the gems they released in their eponymous album, one track in particular sticks out due to its brilliance: Ja Sei Namorar. It’s turned into a classic and its appeal crossed borders, oceans, and language barriers, so much so that you have people from Mexico to Sweden to Portugal singing its words. Featured here are two remixes of this wonderful song, the first one an infectious kizomba jam by Carla Leão that begins with an infectious and thrilling electric guitar riff that continues throughout. The second one is the Buscemi remix, a sexy, sultry late night number that has trip hop and deep house characteristics and features the voices of the actual trio.
